“From localized community projects to large-scale endeavors, activities for the advancement of economic development have an enormous impact on the shoring up of the nation’s economy. The (Excellence) award serves as a most respectful ‘hats off’ to economic development organizations like the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce for leading the charge.”

In January 2007, the communities of Lawrence, Methuen, Andover, and North Andover, and the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce, received the prestigious Kenneth Pickard Innovation Award from the Massachusetts Municipal Association for implementing the Merrimack Valley Means Business website. This award recognizes municipalities demonstrating a dedication and commitment to increasing the effectiveness of local government by successfully implementing a unique and creative program.
In October 2014, the Merrimack Valley Mayors and Managers Coalition (MVMMC), in conjunction with the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission (MVPC), announced the release of the new, streamlined MVMB website, the first step in a broader cooperative initiative to attract new economic development to the region.
